Intuition is not a gift only given to certain people. Our intuition is innate, and we all can strengthen it and learn to trust it. So how do you know when to spot your intuition and tune into it? In order to start trusting your intuition, a first step is to recognize what it is and how it’s specific to you. Luckily, your intuition is already showing itself to you every day – you probably just didn’t realize it.

You Experience Gut Feelings or Instincts

This is a big one, and probably the most common form of intuition people experience. When you’re in a certain situation or faced with a major decision, you might feel a “pang” in your gut – or maybe it feels like your stomach is dropping (a “pit in your stomach.”) This is a physical sensation, it’s called clairsentience, where your intuition is reacting to the situation and guiding you.

You are Thinking of Someone, and Immediately You Receive a Call or a Text from Them

You might want to chalk this up to a happy convenience – but allow me to introduce you to your intuition! Our connection with others, especially those who play an important part in our lives, is a huge part of how our higher self communicates with us in our everyday lives.

When You Have a Feeling that Something is Right and You Can’t Explain Why

This is similar to those gut feelings, but often without the physical sensation. When you are at a crossroads – or even just making a small decision like whether to attend a certain event – you might feel strongly about what the right decision is. You may hear a physical voice in your head telling you what to do, or you might just feel the answer came to you internally. However the answer arrives to you – this is your intuition at work.

You’re Empathetic to Others

Being empathetic means that you’re highly sensitive to your environment and those around you. Let’s say you’re at work and you can immediately tell a coworker is having a bad day. They didn’t say or demonstrate anything externally to express what they are feeling, but you were instantly picked up on their energy and sensed they may be struggling. Feeling what others are feeling is a tell-tale sign of your intuition at play.

You Pick Up on Things Quickly

When you start a new hobby or activity, do you just seem to know how to do it? Everything takes practice, of course – but if you constantly find yourself adapting to new things quickly, it’s an indicator of the strength of your intuition.

Your First Impressions Are Strong

If you find that you have stronger immediate first impressions of people – friends, co-workers, a family member’s new significant other – you have your intuition to thank. You’ll probably hear from others that you’re “a good judge of character” – and you are. But those true judgments are coming from something a bit bigger than yourself. They’re coming from your place of inner knowing, meaning that these are your truest thoughts and feelings without the influence of external factors.

You’re in Touch with Your Emotions

This is a big part of intuition – and, unfortunately, it can be the one that we try to suppress the most often. We might be worried about being seen as “too emotional”, particularly when it comes to workplace environments. But being aware of how you feel in certain circumstances, or how you react to being around certain people, is a substantial sign that you’re connecting with your intuition. Learning to trust those feelings – rather than brace against them – can help you avoid negative situations, and people who don’t bring mutual support into your life.

You Are Creative

People who are intuitive will often show their intuitive strength through their creativity.

Our intuition helps us see the world around us more clearly and understand what will resonate positively with those around us. With that expansive knowledge, the creative side of our brain is easier to access, and innovative ideas will come to us organically, without a significant amount of thought. Consciously tapping into your intuition can open entirely new creative realms you didn’t realize were within you.
