Learning to Be Aware of External Triggers and Distractions (Stillness)
Today we are talking about what gets in our way of accessing and trusting our intuitive intelligence. The irony is – what gets in the way – is generally ourselves. This is true, yet often the most challenging to recognize.
We all face daily external triggers that can impede our connection with our intuition:
- Worry about others’ opinions, what others think
- Societal and cultural influences like “I should be doing X because I’m X years old”
- Limiting beliefs that you can’t trust your gut – “I can’t follow my instincts, because decisions are made through analytical thinking”
- Unnecessary overthinking – worrying about things that haven’t happened or took place in the past
- Emotional blocks
- And more…
By practicing stillness – whether it’s through mindfulness, meditation, breathwork or other modalities – is where we can tap into our intuitive intelligence – addressing the blocks that stand in our way.
There’s even a scientific name for this state in the brain – it’s called the Alpha State. Or often referred to as the Power of Now or the resting state.
There are four states of consciousness, where activities occur in our brains; Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta. The Alpha State is where we daydream and creative visualization lives. On the contrary, the Beta State is where you are most productive; working, concentrating, problem solving – going about your day.
The Theta State mostly occurs during sleep, the twilight state when we drift off to sleep and dreaming vividly.
And lastly, the Delta where deep, dreamless sleep and external awareness is suspended.
As we learn how to access the present, to press pause on the worries and concerns – is where we can actually still our minds. With a truly still mind, you reached the ideal state to receive clear, accurate intuitive insight. It takes practice, but as we learn how to train our minds to remain in the present – the easier to access our intuition, our purpose, personal growth and ultimately a fulfilled, expansive life.
